Lifted Ford Trucks
Lots of people dream of driving around town in Bigfoot, and that’s why they love lifted trucks. You usually find lifted truck enthusiasts in their early twenties or even in their teens, but you might also see middle-aged men following the craze. The reality is these beefed up vehicles are a great time, but they can be outrageously expensive to build.
You also have to consider the legal aspects of owning this kind of truck. If you put certain lift kits at the very least you’ll have to have mud flaps, and some states or counties may limit the actual height you can lift the truck. If you use a certified service professional to install the lift kit on your truck it’s very probably they will know what restrictions there are, if any. You don’t want to invest your financial resources and then discover the modifications you made are against the law.
Just like you wouldn’t want an inexperience driver behind the wheel of Bigfoot, you don’t want a novice driving your lifted Ford truck. They handle much differently on the road than a normal car or even a normal truck. If you were to collide with a pedestrian while driving a lifted truck, you’re probably going to hurt them much worse than a normal car because of how high and heavy your vehicle is. Breaking distances will be longer, and cornering is more difficult in a truck with a lift kit installed on it.
The process of lifting a truck is not cheap. Many people feel it’s a great way to show their personality, but the financial burden may be too much for them. You have to factor in the cost of all the parts necessary to modify the truck, and all the labor you’ll have to pay for when you go to a skilled technician to install the kit for you. I would not recommend lifting your truck unless you have experience and the help of experts.
If you choose to go to a service shop or body shop to have the installation performed, ask for references. You really can’t be too careful. After all, a lifted truck is a great toy, but it can be very dangerous if not assembled and driven properly.
